Parthenon Farmer Cheese
The product is great. It is packaged very well. Much differently from other Farmer Cheese sold in the market. The company's shipping however, was not so great. The customer should have been advised that it is necessary to buy expedited shipping. I assumed that the packaging was satisfactory for a perishable product.

Great Farmer's Cheese
This cheese proved to be exactly what I was looking for to make my special cheesecake. It's the closest thing to the old fashioned "smear case" that a person can find. Great texture and very little to no liquid. The taste is perfect for baking and no type of dry cottage cheese can compare.

Holds our interest without drama
Monasteries and cheese have a long historic association. So we shouldn't be surprised to learn that a senior nun of Regina Laudis, Sister Noelle, was assigned to cheese-making duty. Determined to master the craft, Sister Noelle returned to school for a graduate degree in microbiology, attending UConn in full habit. She later applied for a Fullbright to learn from the French cheesemakers, spending a year driving around the magnificent French countryside...in her full habit. We learn a lot about cheese and even more about a contemporary nun. The film doesn't delve into her motives or even her personality, so we don't get a 3D view of Sister Noelle. But we see a combination of a warm, outgoing style with a deep attachment to her cheese and her religious life. As she says, being a nun behind bars has allowed her to be free.Contemporary Benedictines are encouraged to be passionate about their chosen area of manual labor, so we get brief interviews with a blacksmith...

Surprising Person and Cheese
I happen to make cheese and I happen to be interested in the Benedictine way of life. I bought this video not sure if it was about cheese making or the benedictine life. I was very pleased it was a bit about both. Now this video isn't about how to make cheese. But it does give you a bit of a microbiology lesson on why certain cheeses from certain places retain the flavor they do. I learned a bit there. What I did get a bit of surprise about but really enjoyed was how they shared a bit of the benedictine way of life. I really enjoyed seeing how these women live and interact. I think it is marvelous and very much how more people should strive to live, in a more balanced community with each fulfilling their roles to the best they can, not competing to have more more more!SO this video is about a nun who goes from an isolated colony in a sequestered life, back out into public by attending college. She studies microbiology and boy she went all the way with it. I ahve...

A rare behind-the-scenes look at a special kind of nun and her work
as this documentary follow Sister Noella while she studies and learns more about the work she does as a Benedictine nun in Connecticut. It is a very interesting look at one nun, the Benedictine abbey where she lives, and - cheese. The program has almost more information than I wanted to know about cheese, and I'll probably never look at cheese in quite the same way as I used to.

Farmers Cheese

Farmer’s cheese looked easy enough for our first attempt. I’ve always been fascinated with the process of making cheese.

After a short Google search, I found out Farmer’s Cheese is a soft white cheese made all over the world. Crusty bread filled with bright green pesto and creamy farmer’s cheese … are you salivating yet. Grilled Naan Filled with Herbs and Cheese Combine the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook. I used to always eat Muenster instead of American on sandwiches growing up, once I popped a piece of the Farmer’s Cheese in my mouth, the flavor took me back to my Mom’s kitchen in Orlando, Florida where I’m pretty sure the 1980′s apron was born. Turn over and cook the other side, covered until grill marks form and the breads are cooked through about 2-4 minutes. Well, I am. First, a note about Farmer’s Cheese. GRILL Brush the grill grates with a stiff brush, then wipe with lightly oiled paper towel. I can’t BELIEVE I didn’t take a picture with the bread cut in half so you could see the melted cheese and herbs. Whisk the yogurt and egg in a medium bowl, then whisk in 1 1/2 Cups of lukewarm water and add the oil. Lightly brush the dough with oil, cover with plastic and let rest at least 1 hour and up to 2 hours before shaping. Just before taking them off the grill, turn the breads pinched side down and brush lightly with butter. Scatter 1 TBS of the crumbled cheese over the filling.

Finally, the cheese seller may offer you a Very Aged Gouda, which in the U. S. is called Old Gouda, meaning a cheese one year old. Like Gouda, Edam originally meant a cheese from the Edam area north of Amsterdam, but now means a style of cheese-making that can also be practiced in other parts of the country. Cheese shops in Amsterdam, such as Abraham Kef’s, are the places to make your first encounter with Dutch cheeses. This cheese lingers on your palate with an intense taste, almost brown-sugar-in-butter, a liqueur of cheese, like a glass of 20-year-old Bordeaux from a good vintage. no number of trips to the local delicatessen or bottle shop can equal it. For the appreciator of cheese, Dutch cheese is one of the gustatory glories of the Netherlands. Gouda originally meant cheese from the region around the town of Gouda, southwest of Amsterdam. Edam vs Gouda Next, proceed to Edam, the other main type of Dutch cheese. Half of this Gouda is exported, making the Dutch one of the world’s largest exporters of cheese. The South Holland province is the main producer of this type of cheese, but other geographic areas in the Netherlands also make Gouda. Visit Gouda on a Thursday morning in summer when the age-old cheese market still takes place. The remaining skim milk was mixed with the morning cow milking to develop a cheese with lower fat content and a more intrusive taste. Most Goudas are whole milk cheeses with a fat content of 48 percent. First, try a slice of Gouda, which is 60 percent of all the cheese produced in the Netherlands.

I choose the Lemon Farmer Cheese recipe because it is something that my boys would eat on a daily basis and looked fairly simple. Line a colander with butter muslin and gently pour the curds into it. Allow it to drain for a few minutes, and then tie the corners of the muslin together to form a bag. Last month I took The Urban Farm Handbook Challenge over at Annette Cottrell’s blog, Sustainable Eats .   March is home dairy month and I have decided to dive into the world of cheese making. If it’s stillmilky/cloudy, add more lemon juice, stir gently, and give it a few more minutes. Ricki says to store the cheese in the fridge for 1-2 weeks, but I guarantee it’ll be gone long before then. It won’t hurt to use more, but if you use more than necessary, the final result will have a stronger lemon flavor.   I wanted to start small and easy because I am a cheese newbie.
