Many useful photos -- not just about paint colors but the overall look
Although the mission for the book may have been to showcase the F&B colors, they achieved far more. This book has full color photos on every page and is a wonderful compendium of period rooms. For me the photo of the brown and white dining room (walls painted in Dauphin, a color that looks quite different on walls than on my tiny chip) was worth the price of admission --- especially considering you can get a (barely) used hardcover copy of this book for less than $10. One of the best bargains I've ever seen, in a truly useful and gorgeous design book.

Good Book on Paint
I like this book. It's wonderful for ideas, but I think that it's more of a book for a professional designer. Not many of us live in castles. For how to paint your own home, I recommend Farrow and Ball "Living with Color." It identifies palettes and makes the job easier.

A classic and timeless lay-out of beautiful photographs and truly educating text tailored this book into a must have for anyone interested in decoration.Obviously the authors know what they're talking about and they mastered their book in a way only the british can do.I bought that book for all my best friends as a Xmas present and my gift to you is an advice: buy it too !

Looking at Color with Old Eyes
I had wanted this book for some time prior to buying it. It is thick, substanital and nicely made. If you love paint, the photographs are lovely. That said, had I had access to this book in a library I would not have bought it. Despite it's size it is a quick read. The most valuable part is the information on various types of paints. This is not a book for someone needing basic color information and inspiration. This is a nice addition to a substantial color library especially for those who love F&B paint.

Paint Geek Tome
Beautifully printed (Rizzoli) with a wealth of info on historical paints and formulations.....tho not really of interest to the average reader.Also, caveat emptor, this volume is produced by Farrow & Ball, purveyors of spectacularly expensive paints, and is basically a marketing device for their products.For a paint geek like myself it is a pleasure, though.

One of my favs of 2010
I was blown away to see other reviewers give this book such low marks. Boring, really? Well it's not over the top modern but a book filled with interiors that have a more relaxed lived in style. I'm a huge fan of Farrow & Ball paints and anticipated the release of this book for months. If you're a fan of English country style and author Ros Byam Shaw you'll love this book. I'm currently renovating an 18th century home in Massachusetts and found myself marking every other page as inspiration for my bathrooms, living room and bedrooms. I buy a lot of interior design books; Living with Colour is one of my favorites of 2010.

If you like Farrow & Ball paint or any quality interior paint, this book should be extremely helpful to you. The top interior designers recommend their paints, and some use Farrow & Ball almost exclusively. This book shows why: room after room of rich, luxurious paint. The issue with paint is that it's difficult to see from a small sample how it will look on the walls of the room as the color tends to intensify once the whole room is painted. Designer Jeffrey Bilhuber recommends buying 4 large poster boards, painting them with your sample and placing them on all four walls of the room to see how a large sample looks in your room.However, it's also helpful to see a particular paint color you are considering on all the walls of an actual room. Exceptionally beautiful and practical design advice
I am delighted with this book, which is very current since it was just published in 2007. It covers every color in the palate, but in their muted, neutral versions. It's divided into several sections that show ideal ways to blend each neutral color family, including reds, purples, blues, yellows and greens, in addition to several shades of white, beige, gray, taupe and brown. Each section has fully referenced pictures of swatches of paints, fabrics, and flooring material. The paints are readily available in the USA from Benjamin Moore among other suppliers.The quality of the photography is outstanding, with crisp, clear detail. The book focuses on the work of a handful of designers in USA, England and South Africa. It is nice to see the geographic dispersion -- the South African rooms, for example, contain feather headdresses on the walls which are just extraordinary and something I've never seen in USA.If you are doing your own design, you can easily...

The book is well priced and full of beautiful color photo's showing this neutral concept that is always in style. Nice work on color boards of real materials that you can research. I see this influncing many of us to use more neurtalized colors in our palettes for our homes and places of work. As big user of the Munsel, color theory is alive and well and it shows in this book neutrals will always be in style they are the canvas and background that enhances the higher chroma colors.This will become a resource book for me.MS (Industral designer and colorist)

Beautiful Book!
This book shows how many muted colors can become beautiful, new neutrals for your decorating. Each section is broken down into color palettes. Easy to flip to hues you are interested in. Colors used in photos (of famous int. designers) don't always agree with paint, fabric and rug swatch examples used in each section. Paint colors are all referenced, but furniture, etc are not.

High Hopes... Fall flat
I read a wonderful interview of Ms. Ashcraft in the NYTimes just befor the release of this book. My curiosity was piqued because the photos along with the interview were really beautiful and the colors depicted were not "the usual." Inspired by the article, I hunted down the book and was happily surprised to find it in stock! Maybe I should have spent a few minutes reading it in the store before actually buying it and taking it home... 'cause when you get right down to it... there ain't a lot of "advice" in it, which is ironic when you're titling a book "The Right Color." The book is beautiful, there are nice photos--- but, the 28 color palette (...which are the colors Ms. Ashcaft is releasing in her own paint line distributed by Fine Paints of Europe), are really the only "definitive advice" in the book; and that's really a sales pitch. Maybe for some people who haven't read *a lot* of color books, this book will be a revelation; they will enjoy reading about the philosophy...
