The good and the bad.
Despite Lowes' website's claim of having this product available by the end of October, it did not come to pass and the local store informed me that is was on backorder from the manufacturer until December! I came here, found this, ordered it and before the week was out, we received it. Nothing fancy but sturdy (on concrete) and I was happy. At least until recently when we had some strong winds come through the area. I reckon the colder temperatures made the plastic cover brittle because that thing was ripped and shredded afterwards.If you're considering this product, do NOT think that the inclusion of a cover is the deal maker as a plastic garbage bag would outlast the crappy cover.

I have a mixed reaction to this book. On the positive side, I thoroughly enjoyed the authors' stories, insights, and personal asides. For them, "lumberjacking" is as much a metaphor for life as it is a means to physical warmth or woodlot maintenance. This made for an entertaining and accessible read.On the negative side, I really wanted more hard information. I have a 13-acre woodlot that requires reqular care, and I had hoped for far more detail on how to approach difficult felling and bucking situations, especially since I often have to work alone. For example, a recent windstorm brought down about ten 70-80 foot pines, most of which are hung up at various angles on other trees. The book sheds very little light on how to deal with hung trees, other than to note that they can be tricky. For example, should they be notched from underneath with a felling cut down from the top like an ordinary tree? What effect does the added tension/compression on the trunk have in...

Need the Frontyard too!
This is a fun book but I was looking for more technical information about tree cutting and bucking. More problem solving would have been nice. The idea of cutting compression areas first before tension areas wasn't discussed. More diagrams of cutting techniques would have been helpful.

oh yes it's firewood, but i wanted it more for decoration then for a fire so when they say clean i guess that only means bug free - if i had gone to bjs wholesale club just 2 days earlier i would have bought acutally clean firewood for $7 and no extremely expensive shipping cost - too bad

Great stuff
I first bought this product two years ago. I have had many a fire in my day but none better than with this product. It is clean, convenient, and easy to use. Best part is that it burns clean and does not smoke out my condo. I've used other packaged firewood products over the years but this is the best by far. I always here people say wood is wood, but it's not true. I'm hooked on this product.

Not bad
I've actually bought this at the local HW store Lowes. There is one similair to this one on their website without the handle, but it's not similar at all. This one burns really well if you add to a fire that's already going.If you want easier burning logs, then buy lighter woods like Ash and Birch. They sell these at the local HW store. Also compressed sawdust logs sold at any HW store or wood brick (usrecycledwoodproducts dot com) sold at local ACE HW stores works great to start more easily. Also Bagged Pinon Wood at Lowes also burns very easily, quickly and keeps the mosquitoes away. The only problem is that you will go through a whole bag in 1 night.
