Klean Kanteen compared to Sigg
Last month I bought a 40oz Klean Kanteen bottle and a 33oz Sigg bottle. In the end I prefer the Klean Kanteen.Both bottles are very light and look good. The Sigg is lighter, but not so much to really matter. Sigg wins easily in the looks department with different artwork to choose from and the bottle I have has a nice textured powder coat finish compared to the KK basic look and smooth surface.Sigg uses an epoxy to protect your water from the aluminum and tells you not to use the bottle for long term storage. Could be a bit worrisome not knowing what's in the epoxy and the possibility of aluminum contamination. I have not noticed a metallic taste from either bottle drinking straight unfiltered tap water. I prefer the stainless steel of the KK just because it's probably on the safer side.The bottles are both lightweight and made of thin metal. I haven't dented either but I have been very careful with them. Both feel like they would dent quite easily...

Good bye polycarbonate!
I purchased one of these for myself after researching the problems with polycarbonate bottles. At the same time I bought SIGG bottles for my kids because they had cool designs on them. Both brands of bottles are great and much safer than the polycarbonates. I like the Klean Kanteen much better than the SIGG for the simple reason that I can put standard ice cubes in it. I have yet to find an ice cube tray that is easy to use that will fit the smaller mouth of the SIGG.With the Klean Kanteen I get clean water and no taste of metal or plastic or anything other than water. I fill this 27 ounce bottle 3 times during the day to make sure I get enough water. I like the sports cap, because I don't have to take off a cap and lay it down somewhere. I originally bought the bottle with a poly loop cap, but when I am teaching there is never a germ-free spot to set that lid down. So I bought a sport cap, and it is very easy to drink from.If you buy the 27 ounce Klean Kanteen...

Finally!
I've had several of the regular Klean Kanteen bottles which are great, but I always disliked the fact that the liquid didn't stay cold for long unless the tote was used, and the bottle would sweat quite a bit. I didn't like the tote because it smelled odd and made the bottle awkward to set down on tables. When I saw the insulated bottles I bought 2 of the 20 oz size, one with just the regular loop cap and one with the cafe cap. I have to disagree with what everyone has said about both caps. I love them both! I use the bottle with the loop cap the most, and it keeps my juice cold all day, 9+ hours at work, even without adding ice. The cafe cap doesn't leak for me, either out the opening or around the seal. Of course, it does state that the opening you drink from isn't supposed to be leak-proof, it says it right on the packaging. I don't upend my bottle, but if I did, I might get a few drips at the most. These are great as travel mugs for coffee, they even fit in my car's cup...

Great bottle...you will not be disappointed!
OK...it was a little hard to spend this much on a water bottle, but I am glad that I did. Water stays cold a long time & I am sure that a heated drink would stay warm just as long. No metal taste at all! Easy to clean. I'm glad that I spent a little more $$$ and purchased the insulated Klean Kanteen. UPDATE: After four months of using this bottle I appreciate it even more. I live in Florida & this bottle keeps my water cold even AFTER it has sat in my HOT car for several hours!

As a student, I feel that I am always on the go and always craving coffee. This bottle is almost magical in its ability to preserve the temperature of your drink (hot or cold), and maintain the taste (no plasticy aftertaste). This is obviously because of the vacuum insulation, and stainless steel construction, respectively, along with supurb build quality.I will now speak specifically about cold and hot liquids in the bottle, as well as a lid (something that is very important to a bottle.Cold: This is what it seems to handle the best. Ice stays frozen for hours (seems like up to 10 or 12 hours sometimes), and ice water will stay pleasantly cold for nearly 20 hours. If Apple designed a Kleen Kanteen this is what it would look like
I just received the Reflect in Mirrored Stainless Steel. It is beautiful -- an adjective I never thought I would use to describe a bottle. As my title says, this looks like a bottle Apple would have designed. It is the same shape as the regular 27 oz. Kleen Kanteen bottle, but the polished stainless steel exterior gives it a high-end, simple, and clean look. The cap on the Reflect bottles with their stainless steel shell and bamboo top are different than the caps on the other Kleen Kanteen bottles and, aesthetically, a great match for the Reflect bottles.After an initial washing of the bottle, I filled it up and tested it for leaks. Despite turning the bottle upside down and shaking vigorously no water leaked out, which should be expected. The top screws on and off very easily and quickly -- just one full turn to seal or open the bottle. So great!
I have to agree with the first reviewer and say that this water bottle is so great looking. I think their description of it being the Macintosh "computer" of water bottles is pretty accurate. I love that it is completely stainless steel except for the silicone ring and the bamboo top. You can screw the top off in about a turn and a half. I have not had any problems with leaking thus far. When I first took it out of the package, the inside had a funny smell to it. I hand washed it (even though it is supposedly dishwasher safe) and the funny smell is no more. There is no funny aftertaste to my drink either. Although, I have only used water in it. I am unsure of how it would fare with other beverages. Oh, and I have it in the mirror finish- which is so shiny & fabulous! =)I lost my prized orange Nalgene bottle several years ago and had just never replaced it. Aesthetics, but with compromise
So, I'll admit: this bottle wasn't so much purchased to fill a need as out of an appreciation for the design. That said, it has been my bedside water bottle for the last three months (as well as seeing some outdoor use) and I think I've used it enough to write a brief review.Clearly, in terms of aesthetics, the cap is what sets this thing apart from most other bottles on the market. The simple design and bamboo elicit a certain understated elegance. With that, however, come certain disadvantages. The steel threads on the lid are definitely noisier against the bottle neck than the plastic lid. Also, if using the bottle in a very dry climate, the instructions note that the bamboo should be periodically oiled with a cutting board oil to keep it from cracking. As you could probably surmise, the carry ring is not nearly as ergonomic as that on the plastic caps, either. I can't speak to it's durability, but I'd be hesitant to put this bottle (that is, this lid) through...

How to quiet a noisy cap! This works!
I was almost ready to quit using my cap because it was embarassing to use,no matter how slowly and quietly I tried drinking from it!But, I sent klean kanteen an email asking if they had any suggestions, not really expecting an answer...but I did get an email back with the answer I hoped for. The tip they gave me WORKED, and I absolutely love the cap now, and it doesn't make a sound!So, here's what they sent to me....I hope it works for you too. From Klean Kanteen: "I do have some tips for using the sports caps. They are our most popular cap, as well as our most complained about. Good product... does what it's supposed to
I recently gave up buying bottled water. While I don't miss dealing with all the plastic bottles, I did miss the sports cap that my favorite brand came with. I was happy to see that Klean Kanteen offers a sports cap, and I am happy that it works just like any other sports-capped bottle I've used.Like other reviewers noted, my sports cap whistled when I took a drink. Thanks to another reviewer, I discovered that if I loosen the cap just a little, I get a much better flow of water and no whistling. Basically, my sports cap works best if I tighten it just to the point of stopping and then no more. (My habit is to use more pressure and tighten it that extra turn or so.) Even though I leave off that extra turn, I have had no problem with leaking.

Works fantastically well
For the longest time, I held off on buying products like this one after reading several so-so reviews, or the one or two negative reviews in a bunch of good ones. It took me a long time to figure out that the very existence of an opinion forum will invite some people to nitpick, and often to even find problems where none actually exist. Such is exactly the case with the Klean Kanteen Sport Cap 2.0. I own three such caps, and exchange them among three Klean Kanteen bottles. I've never had the least bit of trouble tightening or untightening any of the caps on any of the bottles. Before writing this review, I went to a local store that sells these, and did another check there, exchanging several Sport Caps 2.0 with several Klean Kanteen water bottles. The result: Not a single problem. The caps all fit well, and tightened and untightened easily on every Klean Kanteen of every size that I tried them on. It's always possible that someone got a defective bottle or cap, but I find it...

Kleen Kateen....you got to love it
I did my share of research prior to moving forward with the Kleen Kanteen. I read almost all the reviews...including many that claimed the taste of the liquid from the Kanteen tasted like metal. I must agree with part of the statement as the first three times I used the Kanteen my drink did taste like metal. Having worked in the restaurant industry for may years with stainless steel, I had a theory. So I did a little experiment. I put some water in the Kanteen and let it sit for a while. I took two drinks: the first drink involved putting my lips around the rim and taking drink. The second, using a straw and taking a drink. The first drink did taste metallic. However, the second drink did not....at all. So my conclusion was the taste was coming from the rim of the Kanteen. But the metallic taste from the rim only lasted for about three uses. My forth time I used it, no metallic taste as all...even drinking it from the rim. You got to love that.How do I clean...

Cap problem
On the 31st day of using this nice bottle, the cap broke. Well, part of the cap. The sealing rubber ring came off and I cannot get it to set into the cap. Now my bottle leaks. I would really like to just exchange the cap with Amazon.
