Great product, but has to be used properly
I worked in a vet clinic for over 2 years and these were the strips we used. I buy them now to test my five dogs, two of whom are extremely prone to UTI's.There are a few tricks I've used to make them work the best. First off, I never dip the entire strip into the sample and I always do the test on a paper towel. I pull up the sample with a syringe and do one drop onto each box of the strip. After that, I turn the strip on it's side so that the edge of each box is touching the paper towel for just a second to get the excess urine off. If you submerge the strip in the sample, sometimes things can run together and it can invalidate some results. Second of all, the specific gravity is not very reliable in these tests so I would not use them specifically for that.The last tip I can give is to make sure you read the results at the given times.The only negative I can say about this product is that I wish they sold them in smaller quantities because it's...

Adequate for detecting UTIs
I am prone to urinary tract infections and these strips are an economical way to test frequently, and they are accurate for that purpose (I haven't used them for any of the other parameters). They are much more economical to use than the Azo strips that cost about $3 each.I can't understand why people complain that the colors run together if you don't hold the strips horizontally. All you have to do is follow the instructions, folks! Hold the strip horizontally! What's the big deal?It's important to time the test accurately. I use a kitchen minute timer. A certain level of leukocytes in the urine is normal, and you'll get a false positive if you leave the strip for much longer than that. (The test is for leukocytes, not bacteria - leukocytes are white blood cells, which are the body's response to infection.) They do the job
I've used both these and the name brand (multistix). For some reason, I prefer the name brand. That may be simply because I started with the expensive brand.I've read some of the other posts concerning accuracy (e.g. someone commented about trace amounts of protein showing up in tap water. I thought that was interesting, so I tried it. My results were somewhere between none and trace (matched neither shade perfectly.I'd suggest keeping a few things in mind. For one thing, these test strips aren't made to replace certified laboratory tests, or 24 hour urine tests. Secondly, they are very time dependent (when they say check the color after 45 seconds..there is a reason ;-).Another complaint I read above, is that the colors will bleed. I can promise you that the name brand (costing 2-3 times this amount) will also bleed. My solution to this problem is to immediately blot the excess urine(along the side of the strip) with a tissue, or a cotton...

Works Great
Bought this product after doing research on the internet for UTI in male cats. My cat Mickey got sick and after spending four days in the hospital and much money later he came home still feeling uncomfortable and with a 15% chance of getting re-infected. So I bought this product, followed instructions, and within 24 hours, no more discomfort. Now I give him a small amount every other day. It's a little challenging to give since the product is little tiny white granules. But I put a little on a small spoon, wrestle Mickey and pop open his mouth, pour in the granules. They melt right away and have no taste. He's used to taking it now. I recommend this very much. I also recommend a little, very small amount of Concentrated Cranberry Juice mixed into there wet food. You can buy it at healthfood stores. Just alittle for a couple of days helps clear it up too. Just like in people. But like everything before you act, do your homework first, consult your vet just incase.

Works for my dog
I've been having quite a time with recurring UTI's with my mini rat terrier. poor fella has had 3 over the course of a year. Truly astronomical vet bills, stained carpets and I know the little guy must be hurting pretty bad. Then I found UTI-Free by PetAlive. I ordered a bottle and set-up for the recurring delivery to save money. I figure if the stuff works, it's well worth the money spent. Note: we also changed his food to a brand that has no corn in it which was a recommendation to us by a dog trainer we used. We also started adding about a few tablespoons of warm water to the kibble to make a gravy. Don't know if any of this has helped too. We sprinkle a little bit of the UTI-Free on his food each day and have not had a UTI recurrence yet. Plus the 1st bottle lasted 2 months, so we slowed delivery down from 1 to 2 months. I highly reommend after 2 month's daily use.

Worked well on my 13yr old cat.
I have a 13yr old tiger stripe that has had a nasty UTI. He's had it for over 2 months, and has just come off an ineffective antibiotic/painkiller regiment. As a last ditch effort I tried the NaturVet Cranberry extract to help with his UTI. When that didn't seem to phase it either I looked up anything else I could try before another $200 set of antibiotics that might not work. I figured if the UTI-Free might work, I could keep giving him the maintenance dosage of the cranberry extract to keep the UTI from coming back.The UTI-Free is impossible to give to my cat like they recommend.The only way to give it was to mix it in with some canned cat food. I gave him a little more than the instructions stated since he didn't seem to care for the taste, and wouldn't eat the food in one sitting and would spread it out. Finally, a solution to my dog's chronic UTI's!!
My neutered Miniature Schnauzer had a chronic urinary tract infection for 5 whole years before I saw someone online with a similar story claiming this product fixed it. I'd been to the vet and tried EVERYTHING, so this couldn't hurt. It was completely GONE in 3 weeks!! I am astounded! When I adopted my male German Shepherd, he had a similar problem, and it's a perfect fix for him too! I couldn't recommend this product more! I really tried everything to solve the Schnauzer's problem... He oozed nasty stuff on the bed and literally would stand there dripping in the vet's office and had trouble urinating. He was on special diets, medications, routine cleanings (painful) and nothing worked, until I tried this product. I just wish I discovered this 5 years ago! Both dogs are healthy now, and have a balanced pH, so no stones (even though Miniature Schnauzers are very prone to stones)! I give it to them regularly about once a week to maintain their urinary health and it couldn't work better!

Fixed struvite crystals
After the vet found struvite crystals in our German Shepherd's urine they put him on a 6 week crash diet of disgusting canned food with high acidity to break down the crystals. They wanted us to keep him on a prescription diet for the rest of his life, but the quality of the food was low, despite how expensive it was. We put him back on regular food, but 6 mo. later the crystals were back. We found the berry balance and have had him on that for about 6 mo. Just got tested last week and NO CRYSTALS! Much cheaper and less traumatic way to treat struvite crystals.

Wonderful for Struvite Crystals
I adopted a female dog 1 1/2 years ago. She came to me with Struvite Crystals. I was sure we could get rid of them with a proper diet, but after going through four different types of food and no change, I was at my wits end. I refuse to put her on the prescription diets that the vets sell as a complete and balanced diet, when the truth is, not only are the diets junk, but the manufacturers themselves admit that they are not meant as a long term diet due to their lack of protein. I had resorted to putting cooked rice and green beans on top of every serving of dog food, which was a pain and while it lowered the amount of crystals in her urine drastically, it didn't completely get rid of them. Then the owner of the pet supply store I purchase my dog food from suggested Berry Balance.
